LA Flex Funding Scheme

A cold home is not only uncomfortable but can also be costly. With energy prices constantly increasing, those heating costs can really stack up. Perhaps you’ve noticed that some rooms are colder than others, or that your entire home is draughty. These could be signs of inadequate insulation in your walls and loft. The good news is that the solution might be closer and more affordable than you think. With the LA Flex scheme, you could be eligible for free insulation, heating upgrades, and even solar panels. Read on to find out more.

What is the LA Flex Scheme?

LA Flex, short for Local Authority Flexible Eligibility, is a dedicated government programme designed to support homeowners and private tenants. It is part of the Energy Company Obligation or ECO programme, which aims to reduce carbon emissions and increase home energy efficiency throughout the UK. If you’re struggling to pay your energy costs or suffer from a health condition aggravated by cold conditions, you could qualify for free home improvements under the LA Flex scheme — yes, even if you’re not receiving any benefits.

What Energy-Saving Improvements Are Available With LA Flex?

The government-backed ECO4 scheme, in conjunction with LA Flex, offers a wide variety of heating and renewable energy solutions, including:
Electric Storage Heaters: High Heat Retention storage heaters which utilise cheaper electricity during off-peak times and release the heat slowly throughout the day.
Boilers: If the property has a non-condensing boiler, we may be able to obtain funding to exchange it for an energy efficient condensing boiler.
External Wall Insulation : this work involves installing insulation boards and rendering the outside walls of the property. This would not be suitable if the property is a listed building or in a conservation area.
Loft Insulation: Adds or upgrades insulation in the attic to retain heat. Internal Wall Insulation: This work involves installing insulation and plasterboard on the inside of the external walls of the property, to reduce heat loss through the walls.
Cavity Wall Insulation: Targets the gap between external and internal walls. Gas Central Heating: There is funding available if there are currently no radiators in your property and the property has an existing gas meter.
Air Source Heat Pump: Harnesses heat from the external environment to provide hot water and central heating for the home.
Solar PV: Renewable technology that converts sunlight into electricity.
Room In Roof Insulation: Used to insulate a loft that’s been converted into a room.

Am I Eligible For LA Flex Funding?

You might be eligible for the LA Flex scheme if any of the following routes apply to your situation:
Route 1: Households with an EPC rating of E, F, or G and a total income of £31,000 or less.
Route 2: Specific proxy-based conditions, like receiving a Council tax rebate due to low income, or being supported by an Local Authority scheme for low-income families.
Route 3: Health conditions made worse by cold living conditions, such as cardiovascular diseases, respiratory issues, limited mobility such as arthritis, or immunosuppression. There are many health conditions that qualify for this funding scheme – we would just require a G.P. or health practitioner to sign a form to confirm that somebody living in the property has a long term health condition.
