Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)

A Government Grant scheme aimed at helping to reduce te cost of you introducing renewable heating technologies in your home.

What is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme? (BUS)

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is a Government grant scheme designed to help reduce the initial cost of installing renewable heating technologies in your home.

 

£450 million of funding has been made available over three years from 2022 to 2025.

The scheme was introduced to help the UK reach its target of Net Zero by 2050. The grants are available for both homes and non-domestic buildings in England and Wales.

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme provides grants for the following energy saving measures:

The level of grant depends on the technology that is being installed, as outlined below:

​

  • £5000 off the cost and installation of an Air source heat pump

  • £5000 off the cost and installation of a Biomass boiler

  • £6000 off the cost and installation of a Ground source heat pump (including water source heat pumps)

​

To qualify for the BUS grant scheme, the work must be carried out by an MCS accredited installation company.

 

ARE YOU ELIGIBLE?

 

Anyone in England or Wales is eligible to apply for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. Unfortunately the BUS scheme is not available in Scotland.

ANYTHING ELSE?

 

Your home MUST have adequate loft insulation and cavity wall insulation (if suitable) before you can apply for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.
